Developed by researchers, for researchers
We’ve spent years doing research, publishing papers, applying for grants, supervising students, and navigating academia ourselves. The ideas we share come from both research evidence and our own experience of what actually works.
Grounded in psychology and neuroscience
Writing isn’t just about structure and grammar. We draw on our background in psychology and neuroscience to help researchers better understand focus, motivation, procrastination, and the mental processes behind productive research.
Designed for lasting change in a supportive environment
Our workshops combine practical, evidence-based tools with a welcoming and collaborative atmosphere. Researchers leave not only inspired, but equipped with concrete strategies they can immediately apply.
Strengthening your university’s research standing
Publications influence how institutions perform in university rankings. By helping researchers write more effectively, we support your institution’s reputation and competitiveness.
Writing effectively and ethically with AI
AI is changing how researchers write, and universities need to help them use these tools well. We are developing AI tools ourselves, so we bring first-hand experience of how to use AI effectively while maintaining critical thinking and academic integrity.
Innovating for researchers
A Brilliant Mind is evolving into a startup developing technological and AI-powered tools to help researchers think and write more effectively. Our work has received multiple awards, recognition, and research funding.

FAQ
Our workshops and courses are developed by Gayannée Kedia and Mina Movahedi, who combine extensive experience in research, psychology, cognitive science, and higher education.
Gayannée Kedia has more than 25 years of experience in academia as a researcher in psychology and neuroscience. She has published dozens of scientific papers, secured highly competitive research grants, and continues to conduct research. Since 2020, she has delivered hundreds of workshops and courses to thousands of researchers at universities across Europe and Austria, with a particular focus on scientific writing, productivity, and the psychology of research.
Mina Movahedi is a cognitive scientist with extensive experience in learning and education. Before joining A Brilliant Mind, she founded and led a successful online language-learning school in Iran, where she designed innovative learning programmes and helped thousands of learners develop new skills. Today, she combines her expertise in cognitive science, instructional design, and researcher development to create engaging, evidence-based learning experiences, while continuing her own research.
Because we are active researchers ourselves, we understand the realities of academic life firsthand. Everything we teach is grounded in scientific evidence, shaped by our own research experience, and continuously refined through our work with researchers and universities.
Our programmes are designed primarily for PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and other researchers. Most workshops can easily be adapted to different career stages and disciplines.
No. Scientific writing is our core expertise, but we also offer workshops on focus, productivity, time management, writing with AI, and other topics that help researchers work more effectively. We also organise writing retreats and provide a comprehensive online course in scientific writing.
Absolutely. Every university is different, and we’re happy to adapt the content, format, length, and examples to your audience and goals.
Yes. All of our workshops can be delivered either online or in person. In addition, our online course gives researchers flexible support whenever and wherever they need it.
Workshops are a great way to introduce new ideas, share practical tools, and create momentum. The online course goes much further: it accompanies researchers throughout the writing process with a clear step-by-step method, helping them move from a blank page to a publication-ready paper.
Universities purchase licences, which can be assigned to researchers as needed. The course also includes regular focus writing sessions and a monthly live Q&A, giving participants both structure and ongoing support.
Yes—and many universities do. The different formats complement one another. Workshops introduce practical tools and ideas, writing retreats create dedicated time to put them into practice, and the online course provides long-term guidance throughout the writing process.
Many writing workshops focus primarily on language, style, and the structure of a paper. While we cover these topics too, our main focus is on the writing process itself.
We help researchers understand how to write a paper—from generating ideas and organising them to maintaining focus, overcoming procrastination, working with feedback, and developing sustainable writing habits. Our approach combines practical writing strategies with insights from psychology to help researchers make lasting changes in the way they work.
We offer a wide range of formats, from 90-minute introductions to full-day and multi-day workshops. Together, we’ll find the format that best fits your programme.
Absolutely. All workshops can be delivered online, and our online course is available anytime, making it ideal for researchers working remotely or across multiple campuses.
Simply book a meeting or get in touch with us. We’d love to learn more about your researchers and discuss which combination of workshops, retreats, and digital learning would be the best fit for your university.
Yes. We help researchers learn how to use AI as a practical writing tool while maintaining academic integrity, critical thinking, and ownership of their work. As developers of AI tools for researchers ourselves, we stay closely connected to the latest developments and best practices.
Our primary language is English, as it is the language of international research and allows us to support researchers from diverse backgrounds. But we also offer the workshops in German and French. The online course is currently available in English.
